Slick Roads are Causing Crashes
Things are intense on the assignment desk right now. The scanners are abuzz with word of multiple wrecks around the triangle. Supposedly a several car pile up just occurred somewhere near 540 and I-40, and even more crashes are being reported. It seems most of the crashes are occurring on overpasses, particularly in the Durham area.
I hope if you’re reading this post it finds you safe. And if you must head out this morning, please be extra careful.
Did you see any of these crashes today or experience any close calls?

What I'm Doing

I decided to work from home this morning, because one of the fire departments in Orange County was reporting that a road along my commute to Durham was slippery and approximately 10 cars overturned north of Chapel Hill, not long after that.
Meanwhile, I’m loving my new NBC-17 coffee cup.

Sounds like a smart move staying home today. I haven’t heard about the overturned cars yet, but I’ll keep listening. Any word on where about that was? Also, it was great meeting you briefly at the blogging conference. I cut out early b/c I wasn’t feeling well, but hope we have a chance to chat more extensively in the future!

It’s sunny over here in Cary, although the weather news report is telling me it is freezing rain here.

I can empathize. I bought two sleds this weekend under the promises of 1-3 inches of snow. Alas, they now sit in my closet. :o(

The Triangle has signs warning that the bridge ices before the regular road, and it is true. this probably happens farther northr, but because the roads also ice in colder climits the bridge is just an extension of the ice slick. Here it is the beginning, so one needs to be especially careful when coming onto a bridge.
