Live from I-85: Ginny and Wayne Talk Texting

I’m heading to Atlanta with co-worker and fellow blogger Wayne Sutton. I’ve already read the latest issue of Glamour, blogged about the circus and filled out Valentine’s Day cards. I had to find something else to keep me amused, so I made this video:

So what do you think? Should it be against the law to text while driving? What about talking on your cell phone while driving?

  2. Wayne, I thought you might have been TWD, I was hoping those tweets were coming at rest stops. I have to say that I’ve done a few myself - but it’s something I try to avoid, it’s too easy to not look up often enough.

Wrt talking on the phone, the studies I have seen have shown that it’s the distraction of the call, not the fact that you have a phone in your hand that causes you to have accidents. The main problem is that people on the other end of the convo don’t see any hazards and continue to distract when a person in the car would be reacting to any adverse situations at hand.

    Have fun at the conference.

  3. I have tried it myself. But my > 40 year old eyes require reading glasses to text on my Treo. Reading glasses and driving are a more dangerous mix than TWD, so if I need to text, I wait for red lights. Be careful Wayne. We want you and Ginny back in the Triangle in single pieces.
