Ginny gets glasses
I’ve needed glasses for a while. I can’t read the signs hanging in grocery stores telling me what aisle the rice is in. I can’t read street signs from far away, making finding new places difficult. And it’s tough to spot hot guys across a crowded bar when I have to squint. So today I got glasses.
Can you guess which ones I picked?
A.
B.
C.
D.
E.
F.
G.
H.
For the record, I wasn’t seriously considering some of these. The ones I picked should arrive in two weeks.

My pick is ‘F’. And I am amazed that frames such as ‘H’ are still actually bought and sold!

I vote D or F.

I think the smirk in F sells it, I actually think B works too.
E is very Harry Potter.

C? Wait, this isn’t the Aviator Weekly blog? In that case, F. And I like G, too.

Great guesses everyone. I’ll report back tomorrow with the answer!

For the record, you are totally rocking C and H.
But I choose F. You look totally adorable in those. I think B and D are cute too though.

F looks great…so that’s what I go with!

I vote G….If it’s C, I’m driving over to Raleigh and breaking them personally. My bro-in-law has a pair like that.

I vote B, D and/or F. But then again, I’m indecisive.

I think either D or F!

I feel compelled to offer commentary on these.
A: Reminds me of the lunch lady from high school. Speaking of which - does anyone remember “The Lunch Lady Song”? These glasses totally fit.
B: I voted for D and F, but B would be a close third place - and I think I didn’t pick B only because you weren’t smiling too much in that shot.
C: Everyone knew a kid in high school who was a total head-banging rocker … and when he had to get glasses, it was a pair of these. As luck would have it, that same dorky looking head-banger ended up with a PhD in physics and is driving a Maserati now (and still listening to Guns n’ Roses). And he got laser eye surgery.
D. Mmmm … chunky tortoise shell glasses. So cute.
E. These would have been my fourth-place choice - but these dainty wire frames feel so 1990’s. Maybe they’ll be “retro” in another 10 years - but for now they look - well - 1990’s.
F. Just the right mix of slightly-batty-yet-uber-cool urban. Or, D with a svelte edge.
G. See my comments about E. This is *way* too safe of a choice for the Ginny that we know and love.
H. Can I have another cookie, grandma? Pretty-please? I promise to go to church on Sunday, and I’ll wash your Buick after.

I was looking for an image of the glasses Peter Sellers switched on Orson Welles in the movie ‘Casino Royal’, but could not find.. FAIL.
In any event, his character (Evelyn Tremble) swaps Welles(Le Chiffre) glasses, which he used to cheat in Baccarat with these awesome cat glasses. Man I wish I could find a photo of that

I love your commentary on the glasses I tried on. I’m afraid of what your reaction is going to be when I tell you which ones I picked. I’ll be updating in a little bit.

Uh oh. I spoke too soon.
By absent.canadian on Feb 28, 2008
Like most other comments, D or F.
H conjures up one word: “Mildred”.
In the end, the glasses that look the best aren’t always the most comfortable or make you function the best. (I guess that would apply to shoes and other accessories, too). So I hope you took comfort into consideration, too. You will like fine in any of them. (Except C).
